3,000 More Post Offices May Shut If Card Account Contract Is Lost
Plaid AM for Mid and West Wales Nerys Evans and Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Adam Price has backed the calls made by the National Federation of SubPostmasters to award the contract to run the new Post Office card account (POCA) to Post Office Ltd .
According to the NPSP as many as 3,000 more post offices could be forced to close if the Government removes subpostmasters' right to handle state pensions and benefits payments.
The number of possible closures represents 25% of the sub post offices due to remain at the end of the current Network Change closure programme.
Of the 24 million visits made to post offices every week, 6.5 million are made by POCA customers, . . .

Soldiers Clean Up Beach Rubbish
Soldiers of the 14th Signal Regiment from Brawdy have once again removed tonnes of rubbish from two beaches in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Frainslake Beach and Bullslaughter Bay, both on Castlemartin Range, were treated to the make-over following a request for help from the National Park Authority 's Castlemartin Ranger Lynne Ferrand.

Teenage Diabetics Need More Help

A campaign has been launched to recognise the unique difficulties faced by teenaged diabetics .
Angela Burns , Assembly Member for South Pembrokeshire, has taken up the cause after hearing about the issues first-hand from worried parents.
“Many children become diabetic in their early teens and struggle to come to terms with that because of mental health issues, inadequate support from the parental home or social peer pressure,” she said.
