macmillanpembscollege2Pembrokeshire College Hospitality and Catering students made and baked delicious cakes and biscuits, Chartwells - the college's caterer - donated free cups, milk and sugar and Preseli Coffee donated coffee beans.

These were all the ingredients needed for the students to successfully raise £81.25 as part of the biggest coffee morning in the world in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

"It was a great success," commented enterprise coordinator Karen Neville. "The students worked really hard and learnt about selling to the public and raising money for a respected charity in the process."

"I would like to thank our sponsors for supplying the ingredients for free and all the staff and students who supported the morning by buying drinks and cakes."

Now in its 19th year, The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is the 3rd biggest fundraising event in the UK, raising £7.5 million in 2008. It has seen coffee mornings taking place at the top of mountains, down tin mines, underwater in aquariums and in premiership football clubs.

Last year there were 67 Macmillan coffee mornings held across Pembrokeshire, raising over £9,000. But this year the charity needs to raise even more to help fund its vital cancer services - ranging from specialist nurses and doctors, to grants and advice for people who have money problems because of their illness.

Getting involved couldn't be simpler- The World's Biggest Coffee Morning, is all about getting together with your family, your friends, your colleagues, having a cup of coffee and making a donation to Macmillan. It's the perfect excuse to indulge in your favourite cakes, cookies or brownies with a nice cup of something warm. And you can feel good because it's all for charity!
