Council Ahead Of The Pack In Displaying DEC PDF Print
Monday, 02 February 2009 12:39
technium-energy_1Pembrokeshire County Council is one of the first Local Authorities in Wales to have provided Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for their public buildings.

All DECs have been produced by in-house professionals who are accredited Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Low Carbon Energy Assessors.

DECs show the actual energy usage of a building and help the public see how efficiently energy is being used. DECs are updated annually and will encourage building mangers to use energy more efficiently because building energy performance is now on public display.

Pictured inside the Pembrokeshire Technium in Pembroke Dock is its manager, David Thomas (centre) flanked by the site's facilities manager, Barry McKee (left) and Steve Keating, the Council's Energy Manager.

The Technium is a major centre for climate change research and is a building that maximises natural daylighting, incorporates biomass wood pellet heating, lake cooling, low energy lighting, rainwater harvesting, a water borehole and a fully computerised Building Management System.
