Objective One funding is once again at the heart of a renovation programme that aims to transform one of Pembrokeshire’s most well-know buildings.
Originally built as a Hotel in 1834, Pier House to this day, is one of the most prominent buildings in Pembroke Dock. In more recent times, it has been well known as public sector office accommodation during the days of South Pembrokeshire District Council.
Now owned by Milford Haven Port Authority, the property is about to undergo a substantial refurbishment programme, with the aim of providing high quality commercial accommodation for the County’s thriving SME (small to medium enterprise) market.
Says the Authority’s Development and Property Manager Jeff Teague, “The programme of works encompasses the full refurbishment of the building’s external envelope including new roof coverings, replacement windows and re-rendering, all of which will be done in full compliance with Listed Building consent.
“In addition to this, internal refurbishment will transform the original rooms into modern suites of accommodation, with flexibility to cater for micro-businesses seeking single room accommodation to larger SME’s looking for a combination of rooms.”
The grant from the Welsh European Funding Offices’ Objective One programme is essential to this project, as well as the wider economic regeneration of Pembroke Dock.
