Farmers And Government Must Work Together

- Conservative candidate Simon Hart addresses the Welsh party conference about the need for empathy between farmers and Government.
March 21, 2008
Farmers and the Government should work together to dismantle the rural - urban divide, says South Pembrokeshire’s Conservative Parliamentary candidate Simon Hart.
Mr Hart was invited to speak at the Welsh Conservative party conference held at Llandudno.
He outlined the importance of creating empathy between farmers and legislators.
“Empathy with farmers will help a future Conservative Government educate the nation about the value of rural Britain, persuade it to treat our industry with respect and inform it of the crucial link between food production and care for the environment.”
He pointed out that in the next ten years two million families will move from urban to rural areas, joining the one million that have already done so.
“The need for this empathy is every bit as important as the need for expertise,” he added.
