Election of Town and Community Councillors

Here is a step-by-step guide designed to simplify the electoral process.

BEFORE YOU VOTE

  • Consult your Poll Card to find your designated Polling Station.
  • On attending the Polling Station, you will be handed either one or two ballot papers depending on the number of elections in your area.
  • Each paper will be a different colour, so they will be easy to identify.

AFTER YOU VOTE

  • There will be a separate ballot box for the County election and another for the Community.
  • Ensure that you place your ballot paper in the appropriate ballot box.

COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTION (WHITE COLOURED BALLOT PAPER)

  • If there is a County Council election in your electoral division, you will be issued with a white ballot paper. Vote for one of the candidates listed on the ballot paper.
  • Ensure you put your completed ballot paper in the ballot box with a white front.

TOWN AND COMMUNITY COUNCIL ELECTION (LILAC COLOURED BALLOT PAPER)

  • If there is an election for your Town or Community Council, you will be issued with a lilac ballot paper. Vote for no more than the number of candidates as instructed on the top of the ballot paper.
  • The staff at the polling station will advise you how many votes you are entitled to cast.
  • Please do not vote for more than the maximum number but you do not have to use all your votes if you do not wish to.
  • Ensure you put your completed ballot paper in the ballot box with a lilac front.

DON’T FORGET

  • Take your Poll Card to the Polling Station but you may still vote even if you have lost it.
  • You may be asked to vote in either one or two elections.
  • Your voting mark should be in the form of a cross placed in the box or boxes on the right-hand side of the ballot paper against the candidate or candidates of your choice.
  • Place ALL the ballot papers issued to you separately in the appropriate ballot box before you leave the Polling Station.

There are 94 polling stations in Pembrokeshire. Your polling station will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday (1st May).

The verification of ballot papers will take place following the close of the polls with the counting of ballot papers taking place during the course of the following day, Friday (2nd May).

The declaration of results will be displayed on the Pembrokeshire County Council website as they are announced at the Count Centre at Withybush, Haverfordwest.
